Cultural Quest: Exploring Fort Kochi’s Heritage through Food and History
Aligning with the IB philosophy that emphasizes real-life experiences, local culture, and community importance, a ‘Food cum Cultural Walk’ unfolded for PYP kids on November 17th at Fort Kochi. In collaboration with the renowned storyteller, Mr. Johan Binny of the Kochi Heritage Project, the event aimed to provide an immersive experience.
The day featured a captivating treasure hunt, guided by DP1 students, delving into the historical narrative of Fort Kochi. PYP kids, armed with a map and assisted by DP1 students, explored iconic landmarks such as Chinese fishing nets, Bastion Bungalow, St. Francis CSI Church, Vasco House, and David Hall. This experiential activity not only fostered an understanding of foreign influences on homes, communities, and food but also complemented the thematic units covered in PYP classes.
